Fall 2011 School Crisis Preparedness Conferences
Topics will include interactive activities related to:
- Safety Must Be a Priority During These Difficult Times
- School Safety and Security - What We Know and Ways to Grow - this session will include information about Wisconsin’s new Concealed Carry Law and how it will affect school safety.
- Use of Technology – What are the New Trends in School Safety? Technology has been growing at a very rapid rate! You will learn ways to work with these new changes and embrace ways to maintain a safe environment in today’s ever changing world.
- How to Speak to Children About Crisis Situations and Promoting Resiliency - Children’s needs are very different than adults during and after crisis situations. Learn how you can help with coping and developing resiliency to prevent long term affects in learning.
- Safety Plans – ACT 309 – What are the Requirements? - Within 3 years of implementation, schools must have a school crisis plan and implement training and exercising the plan. What is needed? How do you get there? What free resources are available to help you?
- Panel Discussion and Evaluation - Each team member and those from the distance learning sites will discuss issues that remain and plan for strategies to assist school crisis teams during the upcoming school year.
